Here are our favorite urban bike trails.
River Trail
Trail starts at West Alameda and St. Frances and follows the Santa Fe River toward the village of Agua Fria. Start at Solana Shopping Center and pick up lunch to go at La Montanita Coop. Pick a favorite spot along the river and enjoy your lunch. End your ride by having espresso at Better Day Coffee. 4.7 miles one way
Acequia Trail
The trail starts at the south end of the Railyard Park via the Acequia Trail underpass. Emerge from the underpass behind the New Mexico School for the Deaf and continue to Ashbaugh Park. On your return, leave the trail and bike to Baca District Railyard and have tea and toast at Opuntia. .7 miles one way
Rail Trail
The trail starts at the Railyard, in front of REI. It follows the railroad tracks to the south edge of the city at Rabbit Road. If you have the energy and time, continue on the trail past the city limits all the way to the village of Lamy. Stop at Second Street Brewery on the way back. 15.5 miles one way
Arroyo de Los Chamisos
Begin at the Railyard on front of REI and take the Rail Trail to Siringo Leave the Rail Trail here and follow Arroyo de Los Chamisos trail behind Santa Fe High School. Follow the trail to Santa Fe Place. Stop at Iconik on the way back. 10.4 miles one way
Tano Road to Las Campanas
This is actually a route and not a trail. Begin in back of the main post office on Paseo de Peralta and Old Taos Hwy. Take Old Taos Hwy to top of the hill and cross the Hwy 285 overpass. Take the frontage road to Tano Road and Tano Road to Tano Road West. Turn left and bike through the Sundance subdivision to Fin del Sindero and Camino La Tierra. Turn right on Camino La TIerra and cicle around Las Campanas. Return to santa fe via buckman Road. 27 miles round trip​
